Privacy Policy

Comic Collectors Canada, operated by Avipol Ventures Inc. ("we", "us"), collects as little personal information as possible. You can browse stores and events and search for comics without an account and without giving us your name or email. This policy explains what we do collect, why, who helps us run the Site and your rights. It follows Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, Quebec's privacy law (Law 25).
1. Person responsible for privacy

Please don't put personal information, such as your phone number, in an event description. It will be published if the event is approved.
3. What we don't collect
- Accounts: we have no user accounts, profiles or passwords for visitors.
- Location: the "use my location" button on the store map uses your device's location only inside your browser to centre the map. It is never sent to us or stored.
- Payments: we don't take payments, and we don't sell or rent personal information.
4. Service providers and where your data is stored
We use these providers to run the Site. Each receives only what it needs.

Find Comics sends your search terms from our server to Canadian store websites. The stores see our server's address, not yours. Images in news articles and search results are loaded by your browser from the publisher's or store's website.
Some providers store or process data outside Canada, mainly in the United States. There it may be subject to the laws of that country, including access by courts and government authorities. We choose providers with reasonable security practices.
5. Newsletter and email
When you sign up, we send you a confirmation email, and you are only added to the list once you click the link in it. Newsletter emails are sent through Kit, which records whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we can see what readers find useful.
We only email people who subscribed. Each email identifies us, includes our mailing address and has an unsubscribe link that takes effect within 10 business days. We never sell or share subscriber emails with advertisers or other marketers. You can also unsubscribe by emailing info@comiccollectorscanada.com.
6. Cookies and analytics
The Site works without cookies. We use Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Analytics data is reported to us in aggregate. We use it to see which pages are popular, not to identify you.
The admin area uses a login cookie for site staff only.
To count visits without counting the same person twice, the Site stores a small "already counted" note in your browser's session storage. It contains no identifier, is never sent to us, and is deleted when you close the tab.
If you switch on "Include eBay.ca listings" in Find Comics, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage on your device. It is not sent to us. If you click a link to eBay, eBay may set its own cookies on eBay's website, including ones that credit the visit to our affiliate account. Those are governed by eBay's privacy notice.
7. How we protect your information
We limit who can see personal information. Only site administrators can view the newsletter list and correction reports, and the database rules block everyone else. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and we choose providers with reasonable security practices. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and, for Quebec residents, the Commission d'accès à l'information, as the law requires.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information or withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing; and
- explain how your information is handled.
Email info@comiccollectorscanada.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live in Quebec, you can also complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
9. Children
The Site is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us their email, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Links to other websites
Store, event, news and ad links take you to websites we don't control. Their own privacy policies apply.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will also tell newsletter subscribers by email.
